Little Ted hits the shops!
Show Notes Transcript

Little Ted's clothes seem to have shrunk and he needs to buy new ones. But he's not normally a fan of going shopping.

It was sunny outside and Little Ted decided to wear shorts for the first time in ages. But oh no, there was something wrong with them – they were really tight and really short.

“My shorts don’t fit” Little Ted said “they must have shrunk.”

His Mummy laughed. “I don’t think they’ve shrunk Little Ted, I think you’ve grown. It’s been months since you last wore them and you’ve got both taller and filled out. We’ll need to buy you some new ones.”

Little Ted wasn’t usually a huge fan of shopping but he made an exception when they were buying things for him. “Can we go today?” he asked “its too hot to wear trousers and my other shorts have shrunk even more!”

Soon Little Ted and his Mummy set off for the shops. They were headed to a shopping mall that had lots of different stores and a great big car park. It also had some places where you could get food.

“Now Little Ted, if you’re a good boy and don’t complain too much about shopping then we’ll have something to eat before we head home.”

“Can I have a burger?” Little Ted asked “only can you tell them not to put those green wrinkly things on it.”

“I’m sure that can be arranged, but first to the clothes shops.”

Little Ted and his Mummy visited lots of shops and Little Ted started to suspect that the shopping wasn’t all for him, as there seemed some dresses and a very large shirt in the bags. Still with his Mummy’s help, he chose 3 pairs of shorts in different colours and some t-shirts to match. However, he was starting to become bored of trailing around the shops and his tummy reminded him of the burger he’d been promised, by rumbling loudly.

“I’m all shopped out” Little Ted said “Can we get some food now?”

“Almost done” replied his Mummy “there’s just one more thing we need to get” and she headed into a shoe shop with Little Ted taggling along behind her.

“Hello” said his Mummy to the store assistant “I’d like to buy some sandals for my son, but I’m not sure what size he takes these days.”

“That’s okay” they replied “we’ll get him to stand on our special machine and it will measure his feet automatically. Just take your shoes off, step onto the machine then stand very still on the footprints.”

Little Ted looked and saw two big footprints with two smaller footprints inside them. He placed his feet on top of them and watched as a picture of both his feet came onto the screen, along with the measurements and what size of shoe was recommended.

“Look” Little Ted said “my feet have walked onto the screen.”

After trying on 4 different sets of shoes, they made a decision.

“Would you like to wear them now?” the store assistant asked “I can put your old shoes in the box.”

“Yes please” and after his Mummy had paid, Little Ted walked out of the shop hoping that everyone would notice his new shoes.

Later on, after Little Ted had enjoyed his burger (without gerkins) he walked back to the car holding his Mummy’s hand and skipping along in his new sandals.

“Sometimes shopping is great” Little Ted announced “especially when the shopping is for me.”
