Little Ted and his Mummy and Daddy are going for a day out to a farm themed activity park.  Will Little Ted want to be a farmer at the end of the day?

“Are you ready Little Ted” asked his Mummy “it’s almost time to leave.”

Little Ted and his Mummy and Daddy were going on a family day out to a farm themed activity park. There were farm animals like sheep, goats and donkeys, as well as more unusual animals like llamas and alpacas. Plus there were lots of barns to play in, pedal tractors and a tractor trailer safari.

Little Ted had been before and he was really looking forward to going again.

“Can I feed the animals today?” Little Ted asked “It tickles when they eat from my hand.”

As they approached Little Ted looked excitedly out of the car window. “Look” he shouted “There’s a fort – that wasn’t there last time we came.”

“It must be a new attraction” replied his Daddy “and it looks like there are slides from the upper windows. I wonder if grown-ups are allowed on it…”

Soon they were inside and Little Ted burnt off some energy pedaling around on green tractor, then he practiced his digging skills scooping up sand with a JCB.

“Look Daddy its just like a real digger only smaller” Little Ted said “I wish I had one of these.”

“I think a farm is the best place for digging” answered his Daddy looking alarmed at the prospect of holes appearing in his lawn. “Come on Little Ted, we’ll go to the barn and say hello to the smaller animals, then take a walk around the fields with the large animals.”

Little Ted took his Mummy’s hand as they entered the shed where the rabbits and baby chicks were. “Remember no loud noises or sudden movements Little Ted, you don’t want to scare the animals.”

Once they were inside one of the animal carers asked Little Ted if he’d like to pet the rabbit she was holding, so very gently and carefully he gave it a stroke. Little Ted was surprised how soft the rabbit’s fur was. “Its just like stroking Fluffy” Little Ted said “only its nose twitches and it feels smoother.”

They were just about to leave when the animal helper told them they would soon be bottle feeding a lamb whose mummy could no longer look after it and did Little Ted want to help.

“Yes please” Little Ted said

“You can hold the bottle. Just hold on tight because the lamb will be hungry.” In fact, the lamb was quite bossy and almost knocked Little Ted over it was so keen to have its milk. “Whoa, careful lamby, I almost dropped your lunch.”

Later, once they had seen all the animals in park, played in the hay barn and got lost in the maze it was almost time to go home. “Wait, we haven’t been to the fort yet” Little Ted said pulling them towards the giant wooden fortress. “I want to go up to the top floor where the flags are and use the slide to come back down again. Look the slide has 4 lanes so we can all have a race to see who’s fastest.”

As they were leaving the park his Mummy asked “Do you think you’d like to be a farmer Little Ted?”

Little Ted thought carefully about this. “No I don’t think so. I enjoyed feeding the lamb but the animal carer says they need fed every 2-3 hours which is a lot of work. Plus she says they have to get up really early to give it breakfast and I wouldn’t really like that.”

“Oh I don’t know about that Little Ted. Have you never heard the phrase “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise?”

“Not me. I prefer to go to be bed late, get up late. Money isn’t everything you know!!” Little Ted declared.

The End.
